Fishing Report - Return to the Sac

10/21/12

Good afternoon Gents!

Sunday afternoon I was able to make my way up to the sac in Colusa for the first time in a VERY long time.I have a spot that i found last year that constantly produced more and bigger striper for me and so we have been going there ever since.

Well the waters were unusually quiet for such a nice day. We only saw one boat go by in four hours of fishing. It was a nice day, crisp and partially cloudy. The water was pretty low and so  we were super excited to catch some stripes. The result: SKUNKED!

You ever build up your expectations so much that when reality hits, it kind of depresses you? Well that happened to me last week. bites were few on a couple different cut baits. I threw cranks, poppers, pencil poppers and nothing! So yes, we officially got skunked but we do not lose hope. This next weekend my wife will be leaving for the weekend and so I will be on the water! I am definitely be hitting the sac again but also possibly hitting cache creek for some smallmouth, and boss pond for some largemouth. I will keep you guys posted.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I got a rumor from the guys at American Fly Fishing (Sacramento) that the Steelhead are so thick on the Feather that you can almost walk across the river on them. The Feather being up your way and all.
