Dare to Live...

This weekend I am going snow camping. I am a little freaked out on account of my inability to exist in cold weather but I am also excited. You see, Snow camping wasn’t my idea. My buddy threw out the idea, I agreed, found out he was serious and then I was unable to back down! The story of my life! I talk a big game and then I am forced to follow through. I could back down but I won’t back down. Put me in danger as a kid but now it keeps me alive. It keeps me trying new things… like sleeping in 20 degree weather for a night.
May sound pointless to some of you but to me it’s a heartbeat,   a catalyst, it’s an inciting incident. Its something that forces me to exit my comfort zone, to do the unthinkable and then to create a memory. I’m married now so this type of moment is rare. I no longer live just for God or just for myself, my life is now devoted to my wife as well. I am tempted to remain in my comfort zone, but instead I will venture into the snow, leave safety behind and answer the call of the wild just for one night thereby keeping my word, my sanity and pulse rate continuing…Pictures when (if) I return! Haha enjoy your weekend fellows!

    1. Hey Bill, No fishing on this trip. My buddy had told me it was a pretty shallow creek so it wasn’t really worth trying. After checking it out I must say I agreed!

  2. The only thing worse than getting talked into cold weather camping is finding out it's really cold after you get there. Did that twice. Put a blanket in your sleeping bag. It'll help keep you warmer.

    1. Thanks mark! I took your advice and took an extra blanket along for the ride. I also took a thick snow jacket with me but didn’t end up using them. Better to over pack than under pack though!
